TECH CREW AT RED SMITH
At Red Smith we have the opportunity to have students involved in every aspect of the show. Students serve as the production team of the show and run lighting, sound, and all set elements on the stage and behind the scenes prior to the production.
Production team - during the show. (Time frame, usually consistently the 2nd week in October - end of show)
-Deck Chief - one or two students who help to coordinate the deck crew moving things on and off the stage between scenes.
-Deck Crew - assisting with moving items on and off the stage.
-Property Manager - assists with collection of props, setting up props and such prior to rehearsals and during the show.
-Light Board Operator - assists with running lights in rehearsals, programming the board and lights and running the lights during the show.
-Spot Light Operator - 2 people who run the spotlights during the show.
-Sound Board Operator - Makes sure that the appropriate mics are on for different actors, adjusts volume levels as needed during the show.
-CD Operator - Watches the cues and plays the accompaniments and transition music throughout the show.
Other Crews:
-Paint Crew - this group meets through September into October and paints thing that appear on the stage with the set/props. After paint crew is done, students may be asked to join us in other things during the productions (Tickets, ushers, etc)
-House Crew - Tickets and Ushers - This crew is present the last week and through the production. They assist with the selling of tickets at the door during public shows. They also help to seat people during the show and monitor the doors during performances.
Hair and Make Up Crew - This crew helps with hair and make up. They are present the last two weeks of rehearsal (one to watch the show and second to prep items as needed).
